GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Celebrity Fanzone to hold maiden campus town hall meeting at Wisconsin

Award-winning TV Show Celebrity Fanzone will organize its maiden edition of the campus town hall meeting at the Wisconsin University on 26th April 2018 at 6 pm prompt.

The event, which is being led by hosts of the show Chantelle Asante, Akosua Hanson and Jessica Opare-Saforo, will be engaging the youth on social issues pertaining to gender disparity, human rights and health and skin care.

The town hall meeting is expected bring together students on campus and a guest speaker who will focus on the main theme: ‘Stepping into the Real World’.

Celebrity Fanzone is recognized as the leading platform for discussing relevant social issues affecting people in Ghana and also around the world, and has in the past hosted personalities such as Michelle Hammond, Shirley Frimpong Manso, KSM, Majid Michelle and many others.

Celebrity Fanzone airs on GH One TV, Saturdays at 9pm.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
