GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Kumawood’s Kwaku Manu granted bail.



Kumawood Actor, Kwaku Manu, has been granted bail after his arrest at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

Some members of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) sought bail for him on Thursday, 26 April 2018 around 7:30pm.

Some of the producers who stormed the police station and secured bail for Kwaku Manu include: CEO of Miracle Films, Mr Samuel Nyamekye; James Agyemang, Charles K. Bentum, among others.

Nana Agyemang popularly called Kyenkyina Twan, an actor who was part of the promotion event that led to the arrest of Kwaku Manu, told Adehye FM's Elisha Adarkwah that the producers were initially denied access to the actor but were later given the opportunity to see him.

Kwaku Manu was arrested by the Ejisu-Juaben police command on Thursday, 26 April 2018 at Ejisu market while promoting his new product called Drop Fruit drink in the company of some actors in the movie industry.

He was said to have retorted: "What should we do again?", after a police officer had asked him to park their Kia truck with registration number AS 9359 – 13 properly, since according to the officer, the car was parked on the wrong side of the road.

He was then asked by the police officer to follow him to the police station where he was arrested and put in cell.

Police were said to have allegedly assaulted the actor in the process of his arrest.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Sarkodie declares Akwaboah as best song writer in Africa.
