GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Shatta Wale meets new British High Commissioner.

King of African Dancehall Shatta Wale on Thursday, 26th April 2018, together with members of his management team, paid a courtesy call on the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker, at his office in Accra.

Among other things, the meeting was an avenue for both parties to officially meet for the first time and also discuss areas of partnership for the development of the country together with stakeholders within the Creative Arts Industry.

Also, at the meeting, Shatta Wale presented a branded Shatta Movement T-Shirt, and copies of a compilation of Shatta Wale’s songs on a compact disc to Lain Walker.

It’s safe to say that the law graduate from the University of Dundee, who is also UK Ambassador to Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso, is the latest Shatta Movement recruit after his predecessor Jon Benjamin openly declared his love and support for Shatta Wale.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...

BET award winner, Sarkodie has eulogized his record label signee, Akwaboah as the best songwriter in Africa.  Akwaboah is noted to have written songs for renowned artistes in Ghana and even Africa.  He wrote Becca’s hit single ‘Daa ke Daa’ and ‘Ayeyi Ndwom’ by DSP kofi Sarpong among others.  Akwaboah who signed on Sarkodie’s record label ‘Sarkcess Music’ co-wrote and Produce Sarkodie’s 4th Album dubbed ‘Mary'  The singer cum songwriter whose real name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jr recently released his first album under Sarkcess music titled "Matters of the Heart”.
