GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Some gospel artists use juju against me but I’m unbreakable – Joyce Blessing.

Gospel star, Joyce Blessings, says the Ghanaian music industry is bedeviled with too much juju (black power).

The “Unbreakable” hit maker further alleged that the evil practice is also prevalent in the gospel industry, which is supposed to be holy and righteous.

Speaking with Atinka TV’S Ama Gyenfa Ofosu-Darkwah, Embosuohemaa, on “Ghana Nie” Friday, the “Heavy Price” hit maker said some gospel musicians will do anything possible to bring their colleagues down for fame adding that she was a victim such evil practice.

According to the Zylofon artiste, some of her colleagues in the gospel industry took her to some spiritualists to “deal with” her but they failed.

‘ …. oh yes! they have tried me several times but they didn’t succeed because I serve a living God,” she told Ama Gyenfa.

She, however, brushed off suggestions that her recent accident was caused by juju. “I can’t say the accident I had last December was caused by juju because accidents do happen. But I know they [ some gospel singers] have tried me several times but didn’t succeed,” she said.

Joyce Blessing added that some well-wishers always inform her about plans by some of her colleagues to kill her or destroy her career through juju “ but the living God I serve always protects me”.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
