GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: I want to collaborate with Manifest, Bisa Kdei – Nigerian songstress Simi.

Award winning Nigerian songstress, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, professionally known as Simi who is set to perform at the 3rd annual edition of the EMY Africa awards has revealed that she would love to collaborate with rapper Manifest and Bisa Kdei.

 The Doromi hit maker whose song has traveled and crossed barriers to be embedded on the lips of most Ghanaians is finally in Ghana for tomorrow’s event.

 The prestigious EMY Awards Africa which comes off tomorrow at Kempiski Hotel will host the Legendary Daddy Lumba and Nigerian award winning songstress Simi.

 This will be Simi’s first performance in Ghana and she hinted that she is delighted to be on the same stage with Daddy Lumba.

 In an interview with Hitz @ 1 on Hitz Fm today, the singer revealed some artistes that she would love to work with here in Ghana. Though she believes everything can happen and not certain on how long she will stay, the female singer stated that she would love to collaborate with Manifest, Bisa K’dei and Cina Soul.

 “I have been connecting with some of the artistes here whiles I was in Nigeria. I don’t think that distance is a barrier it is not really a barrier in this case. I recently did a song with D-Black”, she said.

 “I am hoping that I can do something with manifest and I love Bisa K’dei, and Cina Soul is also good”, she added.

 Simi has promised all who will be present at the event that she is going to excite them with a thrilling performance.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
