  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. WORLD ENTERTAINMENT: Sir Elton John accepts libel damages over dog injury story.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have accepted "significant" libel damages over an newspaper allegation that their dog inflicted "Freddy Krueger-like" injuries on a child at a play date.

The couple brought proceedings against News Group Newspapers over a front page story in The Sun on Sunday in February.

Their solicitor said the injuries were not serious and that the allegation was "false and seriously defamatory".

Neither Sir Elton nor Furnish were at London's High Court on Friday.

The Sun's story, captioned Elton's Dog Did This To My Girl, reported that Sir Elton's spaniel bit a five-year-old girl at the singer's Berkshire home in February 2016.

Solicitor Jenny Afia said the story had claimed the child had been "subjected to a serious attack" and that Sir Elton and Furnish had "failed to make any attempt to find out how the little girl was... despite being aware of the incident."

"The truth is that the injuries were not serious, and the claimants, far from ignoring the incident, made several inquiries about the girl's welfare to her father and nanny," Mr Justice Matthew Nicklin was told.

"Each time it was confirmed the girl was fine.

"I am pleased to say that the newspaper has now accepted unequivocally that this allegation was false and seriously defamatory.

"As a result, it has agreed now to apologise to Sir Elton John and David Furnish, and to pay significant damages as well as to reimburse their legal costs."

"The defendant offers its apology to the claimants and is pleased that the matter has been amicably resolved," said Jeffrey Smele, solicitor for News Group Newspapers.

The Sun on Sunday's story appeared on the paper's website and was picked up by a number of other publishers, including Metro, the Daily Mirror and the London Evening Standard.

Sir Elton and David Furnish married in 2014 and have two children - seven-year-old Zachary and Elijah, aged five.

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
