GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. BUSINESS NEWS: GNPC boss wins Oil and Gas Council Lifetime Achievement Award.

Chief Executive Officer of GNPC, Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong has received The Oil and Gas Council’s prestigious Life Time Achievement Award. The award was conferred on him on Tuesday 25th September, at the National Oil Companies (NOCs) Assembly held at the Hilton, Amsterdam.

The award was presented to Dr. K. K Sarpong in recognition of the outstanding leadership he is providing to GNPC. The organisers remarked that due to his strong leadership, “GNPC has become a standard for emerging NOCs.” For the first time in the history of the NOC Assembly, only one award was presented.

The award was received on his behalf by Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, General Manager, sustainability and Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, at a dinner held at the Hilton Amsterdam.

Dr. Baah-Nuakoh made presentations in two-panel discussions at the Assembly:

1. The Art and Science of Operational and Cultural Change

2. Charting The Growth of the Emerging NOC. Other speakers on the panels were drawn from Saudi Aramco, Kuwait National Oil Company, Belize Natural Energy, PWC etc.

The assembly was organized with support from Getenergy Global.
