  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Stop Attributing Rich People’s Success To Money Rituals – Shatta Wale Cautions Ghanaians

  Multiple award winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, has cautioned Ghanaians against criticising rich people. According to Shatta Wale in a video posted on his Instagram live page, Ghanaians should stop attributing rich people’s money to rituals because not all rich people got their monies through dubious means. “Ghana is full of hate. We always attribute people’s success to money rituals.You dont know me but you’re always talking about my character. people always have something to say about everything,” he stated in the video. Stop the 'shadow boxing' and focus on ‘harvesting’ votes – Baako to NPP, NDC

  “What do they (NDC) want the independent auditor to do that the existing laws cannot do?” renowned journalist  Kweku Baako Jnr . has asked. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is requesting an independent audit into the newly compiled voters’ register. This follows claims by the Electoral Commission (EC) that there are minors and foreigners among the 16.9 million persons registered to vote on December 7. Director of Elections of the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah at a Press conference in Accra cited multiple registrations as grounds for the independent audit. “...we’re reliably informed that the EC’s own Biometric system is defective and therefore de-duplicating registrants by itself,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional branch of the National Democratic Congress has accused the Electoral Commission of deliberately inflating figures in the ongoing registration exercise to enable the NPP rig the 2020 general elections. Burna Boy boasts about Ghana on ‘The Breakfast Club’

  Burna Boy  heaped praise on Ghana in an interview he had with 'The Breakfast Club', an American syndicated radio show based in New York City. During the interview, Charlamagne tha God, one of the three hosts of the show, disclosed to  Burna Boy  that he has acquired a property in Ghana which is by the beach. He, however, indicated that the property is located in East Legon when  Burna Boy  asked if it was at Labadi. Burna Boy  told Charlamagne tha God that getting a property in Ghana is the best decision he [Charlamagne] has ever made. “Bro that’s the best decision you have ever made,”  Burna Boy  told Charlamagne tha God. Education Minister discloses when schools will reopen

  Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has said the reopening of schools in Ghana will be dependent largely on how the coronavirus behaves in the country. Asked when schools will reopen while speaking in an interview with Berla Mundi on the COVID-19 360 on TV3 Thursday, August 13, Dr Opoku Prempeh said, “we will go back to school if the virus allows us.” He explained that the decision will be based on the available science and data on the Covid-19 situation in the country. “So depending on the science and data, we will reopen schools. We reopened schools for final years as they maintain social distancing,” he said. He observed when schools reopened for final students to write their examinations, the government suffered flak from people. Togbe Afede raises concerns over Ghanaians ‘trapped’ around Ghana-Togo border

    Togbe Afede XIV, President of the National House of Chiefs has bemoaned the effect of the border closure on indigenes of the Volta Region who he says could be trapped between the borderlines. Ghana’s borders were closed to human traffic because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Ahead of the voter registration exercise, military and immigration officers were also deployed to man the borders to support the fight against COVID-19. But some observers have noted that the government did not take into account the Ghanaians who crossed between some of Ghana’s borders on a daily basis for school and economic activities, among others. In a statement, Togbe Afede recounted his tour of some parts of the region which informed some of his fears. “I am still haunted by the plight of those citizens of Leklebi-Kame who are trapped on the about 300-meter stretch of land between the Ghana Immigration Service barrier and the actual Ghana-Togo border.” He said they had not been able to regist...

Ghana’s COVID-19 death toll hits 223; active cases now 2,029

  Ghana’s active COVID-19 cases currently stand at 2,029. 168 COVID-19 new cases recorded in the country have pushed the total case count to 41,572. Eight more deaths have also been recorded increasing the toll to 223. This was captured on the Ghana Health Service’s Website on August 12, 2020. Four regions out of the 16 do not have any active cases. They are; Upper West, Upper East, Savannah and North East regions. The Greater Accra Region continues to lead the active cases chart with 766 current cases. Ashanti Region also has 538 active cases followed by Central Region and Eastern Region with 242 and 228 active cases respectively. The region with the least number of active  cases is the Bono Region with three cases. Source: citinewsroom.com

  Astute Lawyer and a leading member of the   National Democratic Congress   (NDC) Tsatsu Tsikata has said that he wishes he had the creative skills to do music like his son M.anifest does. According to him, although he enjoys music, he does not have any musical skills like the dexterity his son proves with his kind of music. “That’s my son and he has taken to music and I’m very proud of him because I wish I had those kinds of creative skills. I’m very proud of what he does. I enjoy music but I don’t have any musical skills at all. His songs are very good and I think the lyrics are tremendous.” To him, he didn’t have problems when his son decided to venture into music after studying Economics in one of the best universities in the world because music is a very creative kind of career that one can engage in. He believes that people have their different kind of talent so he would never have tried to talk his son out of what he loves to do or impose on him a career like law....
