GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT GRIEF: Highlife legend CK Mann to be buried on July 14.

The family of veteran highlife musician C.K Mann who passed away few weeks ago, has announced that his final funeral rites and burial service will be held on July 14, 2018 in Takoradi.

The announcement was made earlier today at the CK Mann Park in Takoradi where a ‘one week’ memorial ceremony was held in his honour.

In attendance were renowned highlife musicians like Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Diana Hopeson, Lucky Mensah, Rex Omar and some representatives of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Charles Kofi Amankwah Mann died on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the GHAPOHA hospital in Takoradi after being taken ill for some time. He was 83.

CK Mann is the producer of great highlife songs such as ‘Adwoa Yankey,’ ‘Mber Papa,’ ‘Medo Wo,’ ‘Araba Lucy,’ ‘Wode a Ne Me,’ among others.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Sarkodie declares Akwaboah as best song writer in Africa.
