Gospel singer Joe mettle has declared the popularity of his award-winning worship song,’ Bo N? Ni’ cannot match Patience Nyarko’s hit song, ‘Obi Nnyane me’ that was nominated for best gospel song of the year at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).
Speaking to Power 97.9 FM drive time host, Agyeman Prempeh (Agyengo) after the award ceremony, the VGMA 2017 Artiste of the year conceded the songstress’ track which competed with his for the gospel song of the year was ahead of his song that won the award.
He however added that his fans might have voted massively for his ‘Boo noni’ song which earned him the award.
“Both songs were popular am not going to lie about that but I feel her song was a little bit popular than mine. I mean just like the other categories every song in there deserved to be there,” he declared
“I feel my fans really voted for me because when I was nominated I put it out there and the massive support from my listeners and followers made me win the award,” said Joe Mettle who won the Gospel Artiste of the year last Saturday.
When asked how he felt on the night of the awards as the overall artiste of the year in the previous year, Mr Mettle said: “I didn’t feel anything; I always say that once you are nominated, you stand the chance of winning like any other person in that category, and anyone deserves to win if you are nominated. I feel everyone in that category did well that’s how I saw things.”
