GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. SPORTS NEWS: Kevin Boateng out of Frankfurt's Bundesliga trip to Bayern Munich.

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been ruled out of Saturday's Bundesliga clash with league giants Bayern Munich. 

The Ghana attacker is set to watch the epic encounter from the stands after failing to recover from an injury picked up during last week's German Cup showdown with Schalke 04.

He consequently missed last weekend's league match against Hertha Berlin, and is well confirmed to sit out another game. 

"Prince won’t be available on Saturday," Frankfurt manager Niko Kovac said in his club's fitness update, as reported by their official website. 

"He’s still struggling badly with the bruised thigh he picked up against Schalke. 

"Johnny de Guzman is out with a muscle strain, Danny Blum is ill and Makoto Hasebe is suspended. 

"Carlos Salcedo is back training with the team but Saturday’s game comes too early for him. 

"The same goes for Ante Rebic, who is making good progress."

Boateng, who joined Frankfurt last summer, has so far made 29 league appearances involving 25 starts and six goals for Kovac's outfit.

The Eagles are Boateng’s fourth German club following spells with Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.

Frankfurt are currently seventh on the Bundesliga table, six places below runaway champions Bayern.

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
