GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Stonebwoy shares powerful message to mark 2 years of knee surgery.

Today marks exactly two years since Afro-Dancehall musician Livingstone Etse Satekla ‘Stonebwoy’ successfully underwent a knee surgery to correct an anomaly that left him limping for many years.

On May 7, 2016, the “Mightylele” hitmaker underwent a knee surgery in Germany to be able to fully walk.

Stonebwoy’s right leg was left deformed after he was involved in an accident some 15 years ago. The same accident, according to reports, took away his twin brother’s life.

Explaining why he underwent the surgery, he said:

“You noticed for the past weeks I wasn’t in Ghana. I went to Germany to do my leg…I want to show them that I can do it but I love the way I live, and I love the people I inspire. You see; this my knee, previously it doesn’t bend, but now you see it is bending. I have finished with the surgery, and now I am doing physiotherapy, in the next three months, I will walk normal.”

Looking back to 2016, the Zylofon Music artiste has admitted in a powerful Instagram post on Monday, May 7, that he ‘can’t change the direction of the wind but can adjust’.

He shared a throwback photo of himself leaving the hospital where his knee surgery was conducted with Jimmy Dean’s famous quote: “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust The sails to always reach my destination.”

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
