GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Jackie Appiah steals show at Miss Malaika Ghana 2018 audition.



Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah looked splendid as she joined the panel of judges for the 2018 Miss Malaika pageantry preliminaries. 

The award-winning actress was selected as one of the judges to oversee the selection of ladies who make the cut for this year’s Miss Malaika pageantry. 

Jackie was part of a star-studded team, including fellow actresses Joslyn Dumas, Naa Ashorkor and host Berla Mundi. 

The semi-final auditions for the revered pageantry came off on Saturday, as many young ladies slugged it out for a place in the final. But whiles Jackie Appiah’s eloquence in asking questions was something worthy of note, it was her outfit that caught the eyes of many. 

The star actress arrived at the event in a nice dress with a small handbag to compliment it. She later took to Instagram to post a photo, insisting she had a “great time” acting as a judge for the Miss Malaika pageantry. 

Jackie Appiah’s photo was accompanied by the caption: “Had a great time being a judge for Miss Malaika Ghana.” Thinking of taking a shot at Ghana’s most rewarding and most prestigious crown in beauty pageantry?

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
