GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: American rapper designs clothes for Ghana weather.

Contrary to popular opinion that "Ghana is hot," American musician, Slutboy Billy, says he feels the opposite after his experience in the country.

Slutboy, one of the headline artistes for Akwanma 2018 Beach Concert held at Vienna City Beach in Takoradi, has urged the youth of Ghana to desist from complaining about conditions they find themselves in and rather consider them as opportunities to create solutions and make money.

Speaking to journalists, the 19-year-old trap artist from Massachusets, said one of his favourite things about Ghana is the tropical climate which many often describe as hot or harsh.

According to him, the weather is rather cool and ideal for a lot of productive activities such as agriculture, transport and tourism which he claims could change the economic fortunes of the country if harnessed properly.

He said living in Africa has not only given him several creative ideas for his music, but has also inspired his creation of a new unisex fashion line called 'Sluttysex' which he is actively promoting to the world through his travelling as well as social media.

Born Billy Affou to Ghanaian parents in Italy, Slutboy Billy grew up in the United States of America and is currently in Ghana to promote his work.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
