GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. The final year senior high school students also returned to complete their term courses and wrote the West African Examination Certificate (WAEC), while the final year Junior ...

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Shatta Wale discusses partnership with the Italian Embassy.

Ghanaian musician and the King of African dancehall, Shatta Wale, and his team on Monday 13th August 2018 paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of Italy in Ghana, H.E Lorenzo Pinelli at the Embassy of Italy in Accra.

The musician who has been engaging with the relevant stakeholders to drive his youth empowerment initiative was at the embassy to have an insight into the operations of the embassy and also discuss possible areas of partnership with the embassy.

During the meeting, Shatta Wale expressed his desire to work with the embassy and its partners to address pertinent issues affecting both countries and also work on programmes to help strengthen and build the Ghanaian creative arts industry.

He further highlighted his planned youth empowerment project aimed at building the capability of the youth to make them self-sufficient.

On his part, Mr Pinelli expressed his appreciation to Shatta Wale and his team for the visit and indicated the readiness of the embassy to collaborate with Shatta Wale at all times to pursue any project of mutual interest.

Italy and Ghana maintain excellent bilateral relations, consolidated by recent political missions at the highest levels.

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Sarkodie declares Akwaboah as best song writer in Africa.

BET award winner, Sarkodie has eulogized his record label signee, Akwaboah as the best songwriter in Africa.  Akwaboah is noted to have written songs for renowned artistes in Ghana and even Africa.  He wrote Becca’s hit single ‘Daa ke Daa’ and ‘Ayeyi Ndwom’ by DSP kofi Sarpong among others.  Akwaboah who signed on Sarkodie’s record label ‘Sarkcess Music’ co-wrote and Produce Sarkodie’s 4th Album dubbed ‘Mary'  The singer cum songwriter whose real name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jr recently released his first album under Sarkcess music titled "Matters of the Heart”.
