GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Fans of Stonebwoy to give him hero’s welcome ahead of Takoradi show.

Fans of Stonebwoy in the Western Region have voiced their preparedness to give him a rousing reception as a show of support to the artiste who is billed to perform alongside his protégé, Kelvynbwoy in Takoradi. 

Speaking to journalists, a spokesperson for Bhimnatives of Takoradi Technical University, Clement Bannerman-Williams, urged all fans of Stonebwoy to join the welcome procession in honour of the afropop singer. 

He said the rationale behind the special welcome is to encourage Ghanaians to support Ghanaian musicians against the backdrop of the recent Zylofon Media and Menzgold Launch Concert held on August 24 in Lagos, Nigeria, where top Ghanaian artistes such as Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale received unfriendly audience reaction during their performances. 

According to Mr. Bannerman-Williams, artiste managers must acknowledge strength in numbers and liaise with their core fan bases across the country and beyond to ensure that artistes receive the best reception everywhere they go.

He said Bhimnatives in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis are ready to meet and interact with their “hero,” Stonebwoy, who was recently described by founder of Fountain Gate Chapel, Rev. Eastwood Anaba as an exceptionally intelligent lyricist. 

The 2015 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy, will appear as a special guest artiste as the Afro Beats Experience Tour stops in Takoradi on September 29 at the Vienna City Beach.

GENERAL NEWS: Double Track System: Vacation classes to be held in churches – GES.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...
