GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. Government in July allowed final year students in the tertiary education institutions to complete their semester courses and wrote their exit examinations. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: GMA UK 2018: Ebony Reigns makes history; wins Artiste of the Year.

Late dancehall artiste, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng known in the showbiz industry as Ebony Reigns, has made history at the Ghana Music Awards UK 2018. 

The deceased has been crowned ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the awards ceremony held at Gaumont Palace - Dominion Centre in London on October 6, 2018. 

Ebony Reigns becomes the first female artiste to ever win this award after beating her contenders; Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, KiDi, King Promise, Kuami Eugene and Patience Nyarko. 

The award was received on behalf of the late artiste by her friend, Afia Schwarzenegger. 

Pataapa Amisty’s ‘One Corner’ was named the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ with Samini’s ‘My Own’ winning the Reggae/Dancehall song of the Year award. 

Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuami Eugene emerged ‘Best New Artiste of the Year’ with Patience Nyarko sweeping two awards; Gospel Song of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year.

Other big acts who won at the night are Stonebwoy – Best Ghanaian Int. Touring Act, Best Rapper of the Year – Ponobiom, Highlife Artiste of the Year – Kumi Guitar, Best Male Vocalist – King Promise, Highlife Song of the Year Bronya – Wutah. 



Yaa Pono OWM Ft Stonebwoy became the Best Collaboration of the Year. 

The Ghana Music Award UK 2018 seeks to recognise the achievements of Ghanaian musicians in Ghana and the UK. 

This year’s event was sponsored by Bie Gya Bitters with Accra City Hotel as partners.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it will organise extra classes to augment the regular double track system so that students on vacation can be engaged while they wait their turn to go to school.  Deputy Public Relations Officer of GES, Isaac Asiedu Odei disclosed to TV3 that the extra classes will be held in church halls, community centers and private schools across the country for students on vacation.  He explained that some church halls and community centres are already being used for extra classes as such the ministry will take advantage of the situation.  “You know we have a lot of church halls or community centres…it’s a temporary kind of structure and you know people are organising classes in some of these structures already and we can even take advantage of some private schools, when they close we can also go in there,” he explained.  Mr. Odei also disclosed that government is going to place about four teachers in “every district or...

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Sarkodie declares Akwaboah as best song writer in Africa.

BET award winner, Sarkodie has eulogized his record label signee, Akwaboah as the best songwriter in Africa.  Akwaboah is noted to have written songs for renowned artistes in Ghana and even Africa.  He wrote Becca’s hit single ‘Daa ke Daa’ and ‘Ayeyi Ndwom’ by DSP kofi Sarpong among others.  Akwaboah who signed on Sarkodie’s record label ‘Sarkcess Music’ co-wrote and Produce Sarkodie’s 4th Album dubbed ‘Mary'  The singer cum songwriter whose real name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jr recently released his first album under Sarkcess music titled "Matters of the Heart”.
