GENERAL NEWS: Akufo-Addo to firm-up school reopening after Cabinet meeting on December 30

  President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  is receiving briefings from  COVID-19  Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings and would make a firm decision on school reopening in January 2021 after a Cabinet meeting on December 30, 2020. Addressing a news conference in Accra on  COVID-19  Updates on Tuesday, Information Minister,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , said the  COVID-19  Taskforce would work throughout the Christmas period to brief the President and analyse the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic on students, during the limited school re-openings in July, August, September, and October, this year. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Sarkodie confirms birth of a baby boy with lovely Father's Day message.

Sarkodie  has tweeted a 3-generational photo of his father, himself, and his new son. In a Father's Day post, the Tema-born rapper finally confirmed he has a new baby boy. Earlier this year, the rapper denied rumours of his wife giving birth to a baby boy in the United States. This was after fans flooded his timeline with congratulatory messages having sighted publications in that regard. "Not true...," he responded. Joining her husband to debunk the false publication, Tracy Sarkcess added, “SMH… a slow news day I guess." However, a few days ago, the Ghanaian rapper arrived in the country with his daughter and wife who was carrying another baby. This generated some level of interest in fans who were eager to know who the other child was. But  Sarkodie  continued to remain silent and adamant about the speculations until his Father’s Day tweet today to officially introduce his new son, Michael Nana Yaw Owusu Addo Jr aka “MJ”. BUSINESS NEWS: Gov’t working with Jubilee partners to increase gas production

The government of Ghana is working together with the Jubilee field partners to ensure constant supply of LPG to avoid gas shortages following the launch of the Cylinder Re-circulation Model, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, a Deputy Energy Minister, has said. This, he said will also ensure that the country experiences relative stability in the price of LPG. He explained that the Cylinder Re-circulation Model is primarily aimed at reducing LPG-related accidents and will also create more jobs contrary to claims by players in the sector that they will lose their jobs. Speaking at the launch of the policy Dr Amin Adam, said : “While we encourage you to adopt the cylinder re-circulation model of LPG, we are also working hard to ensure security of supply of LPG so that we do not have shortages of LPG at anytime or anywhere in the country. “Accordingly, we are working with the Jubilee Field partners, the producers of oil from the Jubilee Field, to increase gas production and export from the Jubilee...

GENERAL NEWS: Respond to corruption allegations in 10 days – CHRAJ to PBC CEO.

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has given the Chief Executive Officer of Produce Buying Company (PBC), Mr Kofi Owusu Boateng ten days within which to respond to a complaint of misappropriation lodged against him by Kumasi-based journalist Nana Kwadwo Jantuah. “You are required to submit your written response within 10 working days upon receipt of this complaint,” CHRAJ stated in its letter to the CEO. The journalist, represented by his lawyer, Mr Sarfo Gyamfi, believes the company, which was recently delisted by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) over its failure to publish its financial results, should be investigated for possible corruption and mismanagement, hence his petition to CHRAJ. GENERAL NEWS: Reinstate PDS by October 30 or lose $190m – US govt threatens Ghana

The US government is threatening sanctions against Ghana over the termination of the controversial Power Distribution Services (PDS) Ghana Limited deal with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Government in a letter dated October 18, 2019 to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) announced the termination of the agreement which came into effect on March 1, 2019, and saw PDS take over Ghana’s major power distribution company, ECG. The decision, government explained, was prompted by some breaches of the agreement by PDS. According to the Ghana government, PDS failed to fulfil the necessary “condition precedent” in the agreement, which borders on demand guarantee. WORLD NEWS: Mugabe's body heads back to a divided Zimbabwe for burial.

The body of Zimbabwe's ex-president Robert Mugabe was flown out of Singapore Wednesday following his death last week, his nephew said, heading home for burial in a country bitterly divided by the hero-turned-despot's legacy.  Mugabe, a guerrilla leader who swept to power after Zimbabwe's independence from Britain and went on to rule for 37 years until he was ousted in 2017, died on Friday, aged 95.  His health deteriorated after he was toppled by the military and former loyalists in November 2017, ending an increasingly iron-fisted rule that sent the economy into ruin.  He died after receiving treatment at a Singapore hospital for several months, and a delegation including Vice President Kembo Mohadi travelled to the affluent city-state on a chartered flight to bring him home.  Early Wednesday a hearse transporting Mugabe's body left a Singapore funeral parlour bound for an airport and accompanied by a police escort, driving past a group of waiting journalists. ...

Singer MzVee and record label Lynx Entertainment have ended their eight-year relationship. After MzVee went off the grid and took a sabbatical from active music, there were rumours that her relationship with members at the label has gone sour. Others claimed the singer had gotten pregnant, went on a break to focus on herself and giving birth. However, in a press release signed by the ‘Daavi’ hitmaker, she only went on the “much-deserved break” to re-energise, get in touch with herself and redesign her artistic expression. “These eight years with Lynx Entertainment have been absolutely delightful and a blessing and I am glad we still hold our relationship,” she had written. Following recent reports about Sarkodie and Okyeame Kwame's absence on Obrafuor's “Pae Mu Ka” documentary, the legendary rapper has hinted that he is not disappointed or worried about any artiste who has failed to make an appearance on his documentary. Speaking in an interview, Obrafour said he cannot force artistes who have intentionally decided not to support him.
