The Institute for Energy Security (IES) has stated that there is a high tendency fuel prices may not change despite fears of an increment in the coming days.  According to IES, figures show the cedi has experienced a marginal appreciation against the trading currency.  The dollar is going for GH¢4.80 currently as against GH¢4.83 in the last pricing window.  Giving a breakdown of the local market performance, IES stated that although prices of fuel at the pumps experienced a 2% hike in the window under review, some subsidiaries sell at the lowest. President Akufo-Addo has announced government's intention to rename the Ho Technical University (HTU) in the Volta region after Ephraim Amu, the great musicologist from Peki.  He made the disclosure at the 50th anniversary celebration of the university today (August 25). He said the decision taken by the HTU council and he has given his blessings to it.  The necessary parliamentary process, he said will be set in motion to change the name of HTU to 'Ephraim Amu Technical University,Ho' in honour of the late musicologist. The Ashanti Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) has started the process of creating 185 new electoral areas across the region.  The move, if successful, would increase the number of electoral areas in the region to 1,243 from the existing 1,058.  The Regional Director of the Commission, Serebour Quaicoe, said the new electoral areas were only proposals, as numbers could increase or reduce.  Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Kumasi, Mr. Quaicoe, indicated that the proposed electoral areas were subject to change after consultations with the local people, saying there was the possibility the people could either reject or change the names of the electoral areas.  The meeting, which was called by the EC, was to brief participants on the importance of the creation of the new electoral areas and collate their inputs for a successful exercise. The Electoral Commission has announced it has suspended the issuance of replacement of Voter ID card with immediate effect. The commission in a statement Thursday said the move is to enable it mobilise and retool its district Voter Management system (VMS). “The Electoral Commission announces, with immediate effect, the temporary nationwide suspension of the issuance of replacement voter ID card at its district offices. This is to enable the Commission to mobilise and retool its district Voter Management System (VMS), as part of its preparatory activities toward its scheduled 2018 online Limited Voters Registration Exercise. “A new date for the resumption of the ID card replacement services will be announced in due course. It was a moment of celebration, tears of joy and champagne popping Wednesday when the 16-year-old girl who was kidnapped and returned dumb a day after uttered her first words after six days.  The teenager, name withheld, was on Wednesday August 15 kidnapped about a hundred meters from her house at New Site in Takoradi.  She was abandoned the next day, Thursday dawn, close to her house, but could not speak, apparently traumatized by her ordeal. She could only text on mobile phone and wrote her thoughts on a piece of paper.  She drew a two headed snake and repeatedly wrote two headed snake, scary, waist beads, juju, among others.
